Rooms

The Aherne's Townhouse hotel situated on the beautiful south coast of Ireland is a luxurious, family-run establishment. Each of the spacious rooms, as well as the junior suites in the hotel offer enormous, comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and traditional crisp linen. Each room was individually decorated with specifically chosen antique furnishings and paintings.

All of the bedrooms in Aherne's Townhouse Hotel offer a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Three of the rooms on the ground floor offer easy access, while one room has been adapted for wheelchair users. Cots and children's beds are available on request.

Location

Aherne's Townhouse hotel is situated in Youghal, right on the Blackwater River banks which meets the sea on the south coast of Ireland. Youghal has been blessed with awesome views in its surrounding countryside, with beaches all around. With a rich history, it offers visitors a lot to do and explore.

Additionally, Youghal is situated halfway between Cork and Waterford, the two most important cities in the south of Ireland. As such, it provides the perfect base for touring and exploring the southern region.

A number of tourist attractions are within easy driving distance, including Blarney, the Beara Peninsula, Fota gold club, Jameson Irish Whiskey centre, Kenmare, Killarney, Old Head of Kinsale golf club, and the Rock of Cashel.

General

The Aherne's Famous Restaurant is renowned for its seafood. The Bridgestone Guide recently voted it as one of "Irelands most Romantic Restaurants", making it the ideal place to explore gastronomical treats. Since we use only the freshest possible local produce, the menu changes on a daily basis depending on what is available. It does, however, always include fine fresh fish caught the same day from the local harbour, as well as specially reared lamb, beef, and seasonal vegetables - complimented by a delicious variety of home baked bread.

Our award-winning chef provides a selection of creative dishes and traditional cuisine, all of which is prepared using only the finest possible ingredients.

Our wine list is rather extensive, with each item having been carefully selected to suit any preference. All in all, the restaurant offers a combination of fabulous food, friendly staff and a relaxed setting which results in unforgettable dining experiences.

The Aherne's Townhouse two friendly bars offer a warm, welcoming atmosphere complimented by rich traditional furnishings. As can be expected both bars are well known for their hospitality, presenting guests with a typical Irish welcome.

As such, any visitor will literally encounter "a room filled with friends". Come and enjoy a famous bar meal from our selection, complimented by something from our carefully compiled wine list, a pint of Guinness, or any one of a choice of Irish Whiskeys or specialty coffees.

Our well known bar menu includes (depending on availability) prawns, oysters, seafood chowder, smoked salmon, prime Irish beef, and sandwiches made from our famous homemade bread. Bar meals are available every day from 12 noon to 10PM, and as such there is no need to rush - unless you are hungry, of course.
